Lunched again with Papa at Sibleys - Bids for the new Cutler Bldg (Main St) were opened and Crump's Company were low. Claude went to Castile. Room 217 has a fine view of the "works" across the way. An Italian tower on North Ave. & other objects of interest. (white J.W.C. dictates). 216 is all right, too. Came home to new carpets, new paper (practically new) davenport &c. It looks very nice. Littled all evening. May 1. Sun. Lovely May - day weather. Got up (almost about 7:30 or so and got breakfast - before Mother appeared). She is about used up with housecleaning. I'm afraid. Washed dished, fixed spinach for dinner (made cookies last night) All the windows open today & buds bursting. I intended riding my wheel this p.m. but only rode it to the corner, as Edith came over all dressed up and walked with me first to Edith Hillman's, where we had a nice little call & Edith looked charming in her new Peter
