finely and to stop. So I did for a minute and told her the nice things the
family had been saying about her which cheered her up immensely. (She was
pretty sad and disappointed) Got home just in time for dinner - a good one -
and then Mother and I went to Mrs.
Sam Griswold's funeral, which was very sad. Came down with
Helen & Charlotte and we stopped at Lura's for a visit and dinner - another good one.
Harriette
and
Bert Brower and Marion
came in for about and hour. H's tongue never
stopped once, but she was entertaining. Lura
gave me a beautiful opera bag (She'd already given
me a hat pin!) Had quite a talk with Helen
going out to the car, and waiting. She's to take osteopathy again. I'm afraid
she's in a bad way. I want her to go to Chillicothe in Jan.
"John" (Mrs. A.) gave her a gold watch and seal!
Dec. 27 Tues.
Back at it again - very melty & rainy & horrid - such a contrast!
"Willie" Filmer
came in. He looks older than Gilmore and
has two children! Ye Gods how we grow old! I'll be seeing the third generation
next! Read my Thackery letters tonight. Good.
Dec. 28 Wed.
Lunched at the "Y" today. Tried to with
Helen, but she was mixed up in some kind of
a "row" and I didn't even see her
