a minute. Only saw "Claude" &
"Carlie". After dinner I read awhile. Then Edith came up and we sat on the piazza and talked
and finally I walked home with her. It was so lovely outdoors. And took the
car home.
May 29. Mon.
Cloudy today and grew colder. So I rode home at noon for a coat. Good thing I
did, too, for it poured at night. Just as it did
last Decoration Day. Went to the
Lyceum & saw the new stock Co.
in "The Charity Ball" The Bakers & Laura & Frank Trapp were there.
May 30. Tues.
Much to everyone's surprise, it was a beautiful morning. I went down and
opened the mail for J.G. and saw J.W. about my vacation and Flack was there a little while - but went to Niagara
Falls later. Came out of the building just in time to see the
procession - very good - half an hour going past. There were 33 wagon - load of
flowers! Rode around thro' Alexander St. & down
Monroe. Met "Idy" and later the
Skipper & Mr.
Davis. & late still Mary
Mac - with whom I walked over to Troup St. She
was going to see a Miss King from the directory office - who is
sick & whose place Mary is taking. After
dinner (about 2:30) I got on Diana
and rode down across Vincent St. bridge
and the East Side boulevard (or rather, side path) to
Summerville. The road was pretty bad in
spots and the path not much better.
