May 27. Fri. Lunched with Helen at "Y" she is just back from N.Y. this morning. She went with Mrs. Armstrong and "only made her cry once"! She showed me "Cosmoodle" (her duck) & we had quite a jolly time. She is delighted with the St. Helena article - apparently. Rode up with Jno. Frey tonight & he invited me to go to the Country Club (Oak Hill) with them Monday. Played flinch with Mother &c. tonight. May 28. Sat. This is an absolutely perfect day - as far as I can see. Everybody has gone off to do things. Con has gone up the river and at 6:30 I went over to stay with Edith, she is better but not well - we had a nice dinner and a session with beautiful "Mr. Dooley" - the Angora cat - and laughed and were mad over "a mere man's" foolishness about the "Blenders (Domestic) of Women. I slept in the poppy room. Read Anthony Hope's "Change of air" till about 12! May 29 Sun. Nice day - a little sultry. Had breakfast about 9 and a little fire in the sitting room about 10:30 Claude came for me and we went - on our wheels - out to the Country Club and took some pictures of the interior - and some little ones outside. It is a delightful room - that hall. I was charmed with it. The coloring is perfect and Claude's tiles in color of the old view - in the chimney piece are perfectly charming. Went all over it.
