Thompson suit. Saw Mr. Dooley &c. Herbert
and Con were out. Then walked on up to Davis's. Papa and George Humphrey were there (I knew Papa wd. be) Had a nice chat with Chattie. Later, Helen came. We walked down and Edith & I, met Frank & Lilian coming up - I stopped at Lura's and Laura Hutchinson came and we had a cozy little supper & much talkie - talk. Laura & I cooked up a scheme to go up the Lakes together this summer! Hope we can. I wrote, later, got a long letter from Mary. Mon. May 2. Rode my wheel to the office for the first time. Miss Crossen is finishing up my shirt waists, so my summer wardrobe is about in shape. Claude came home from Castile. He has decided not to let them offer him the Cornell Professorship, which Mr. Miller say they are ready to do. Tues. May 3. J.G. and J.W.C. are both busy deciding what to do about the new Main Street building. They are going to let it to Denniston & Co. (Crump's firm) and begin at once - probably 5 stories. Went to Sibley's to lunch and to Lura's this evening (rather late) to play flinch with Laura and Nellie Mac. We talked " The Lakes" and ate some of Mrs. Baker's cookies and I came home on "Diana".
