Apr. 27 Thurs.
The Orphans left and the canal was filled &c. &c. Fine day. Played
Flinch and read tonight. Mother & I even in the match!
Apr. 28 Fri.
Warm - very. Lunched with Papa at the
M.I. Called in Chattie.
She laughed at the handwriting man's characterizations but I think they are
pretty good especially
Mary's & mine. I'm going to save them here.
Began "The Prodigal Son" by Hall Caine
tonight. Claude's having a lot of shrubbery
set out at Cro'nest & the family with
the children have moved out of the lodge. Hot.
Apr. 29 Sat.
Papa's birthday. It poured all the morn- ing
but cleared off beautifully this p.m. I have great times, mornings, watching
some robins building a nest in the big maple in front of
Hartigan's. They are so clever & cute. Uncle Jay is quite sick. Had a nice letter from
Trudy
telling about her visit to N.Y. Shopped a little
tonight (hat & bicycle skirt) wrote. Took Florence Charlton
& Zen & she took
Zozie & me with the camera J.W.
gave me.
Apr. 30.
Beautiful morning, so I put on my (old) bicycle skirt & about 11 rode over
to Avondale Park & coaxed Chattie up on the Pinnacle. The
Skipper had just got home again and came
too. But it began to sprinkle so we had to come back - saw some orphans &c.
