and we had a little chat with Mae &
Jno. before they came in. She seemed
wholesome and pleasant enough & sufficiently entertaining. DeGraff is the same old stiff. I hope they will be
happy and no doubt they will, for she probably has Canadian ideas of
matrimony! It got cool & Jno insisted on
our taking wine &c. and they both (gentlemen) saw us on the car. Got home
about ten sosleepy!
May 18. Wed.
I was going to the "Red Feather" with Nellie
tonight, but it poured and Ida wanted to go, so I let her have my ticket, with pleasure.
Played flinch with Mother &c. Do often now.
May. 19. Thurs.
Still raining. Edward Penfield is here,
doing the decorations at the Country Club, and Claude is busy seeing that he enjoys himself &c.
&c. Lunched with Helen at the
"Y." She had a letter from the Skipper - on his way to Georgian Bay. Made
"chicken terrapin" at cooking school tonight. It was fine. Went to bed quite used up!
May 20 Friday
Still more rain. Like April. Went to see
Jessie Bonesteel in "The Unforeseen" at the
National. Didn't care for the play, but the company wasn't
half bad. Went with Miss McCaffreySat. May 21.
A really fine day at last - and a very busy one.
Claude went to Castile. At
5 I rode out to the Park met Edith J.
and she turned back with me. Saw
