Oct. 1. Sat. Still windy, but a fair, fine day. The Vacuum Oil people moved into the Granite Bldg. Was busy late this p.m. Stopped in Scrantom's and met "George " who advised me to read "The Bondage of Ballinger" - so I got it at the library. It turns out to be the story of an old book man, of course. Rode up with big brother in the car. He had a straw cushion (one of these round ones) to use as a target in archery. Sat by the fire tonight, most cozily, with Zo & Zen. Oct. 2 Sun. A beautiful breezy morning. I felt the "North a - callin" and went to the lake and to the Stull's to return "The call of the wild". Didn't find them in but left the book and wrote them a note on the back of my book plate. Saw Alice Jones & later Lewis - going to Boucher's to dinner. The waves were very whitecappy - herds of white horses. A big one now and then would roll along the pits like the sail of a little yacht - zipping. The Stein cottage
