within a year) It was rather interesting to watch - big ladders &c. - but oh ! so muddy! Dec. 17 Sat. Was shocked to hear of Miss Crossen's death, yesterday, of typhoid fever at the Homeoeopathic Hospital. She was about to be married and all. Just about finished my shopping. Sibley's basement (the big new one with temporary fittings) is more fun. Got "The Road to Tuesday" for Claude at Scrantom's. Our three girls all went home for the holidays (Buffalo) Dec. 18 Sun. Did up my Christmas packages. Quite a job too, but they look nice. Had my wrapper on all day, as I still feel rather invalidy. Char and Claude were down tonight for a little while. Dec 19 Mon. Fine snowy weather. Quite ideal for Xmas, except no sunshine. Mother came down & we shopped at noon. Toys to send to the Major children, mostly. It was such fun buying Noah's Arks & things! Dec. 20 Tues. Mary just got home. Came in for a minute. Looks fine. Shopped with the Flack's tonight (bought a "circus" for little Edmund) Read & loafed tonight. Dec. 21 Wed. Edith Andrews and Bab Tillinghast appeared this morning (unexpectedly) to breakfast on their way to Dansville. Edith didn't have money enough to get home! She's more fun - the little goose!
