Edith took her note book and I my writing
materials and went over to the fine Dewey Memorial - Art Building
used as a library, too, now, while the new Carnegie library is
building. It was pleasant and cozy there, and I met the Art teacher - who has
been there since Edith's mother was in
college. In fact "Jeannie Davidson" recited to
her. At dinner I had quite a conversation with one of the young PhD's
(Dr. Thompson?) and found her "quite like other girls".
Sidney Babcock invited me up into her room with another
junior and a little freshman
Dorothy Wyatt (?) who was evidently being rushed for she was
going to a spread later and "3 tomorrow night". She's very cute - if she isn't
spoiled. Miss Babcock
was very nice. Edith
came up when she got her "domestic work" done and we all went down into the
kitchen for a little while to a candy - pull which Mrs.
Fairbanks (the Matron) was giving to keep some of the girls from
being homesick. Didn't stay long.

chat. Nearly went to the theatre to see
Hackett (in Springfield) but I was
