Second day of Lura's opening. Her room looks very attractive and lots of people came. Mrs. Penfield here. Tonight went over to the Hospital Donation with Mother. Lunched at the "counter" with Mrs. Hoyt. Claude and Char came later. Walked home via 3rd ward. Dec. 3 Sat. Better today. Lovely gray morning. J.G. is home. Shopped tonight. I do like Saturday! Dec. 4 Sun. Nice day. Walked up to Cro'nest for dinner. Peruzzi performed and so did Carl. They are very cute together. Had a nice talk with Char & Claude. He is reviewing Henry James' last book for the "Critic". Walked home and did not go out again p.m. or evening. Read &c. Dec. 5 Mon. & Dec. 6 Tues. Uneventful days. Same old thing. My cold. Troubles at the office with the new heating. People beginning to shop furiously. I writing my "Up the Lakes"(!!) Dec. 7 Wed. Hamilton (Skipper) Davis and Helen came over tonight and we had a nice visit, tho' Helen wasn't feeling first rate. Hamilton was very much interested in my government maps &c. of course we talked "islands". Dec. 8. Thurs. Fine snow storm. Lunch down town (Sibley's) with Mother and shop a little. Dec. 9. Fri. Lunched alone today (at White Kitchen where I got more cold) Shopped more than yesterday too. Xmas things.
