took a car for home on South Avenue. In plenty of time for dinner. Rested and read in new room this p.m. Edith Joiner came and we had a nice long chat. She told me all her "troubles" at the office and this summer at the "works" - with a nicish man and a snippy girl &c. &c. We had supper in the kitchen and she went home at 9:30 or so. Then read awhile. Oct. 24 Monday Not feeling O.K. today. Lunched down town and bought a ready made suit at McCurdy's. Quite pretty - greenish brownish mixture. J.W. went to Dansville, where his mother- in-law Mrs.
Jenkins
(only 49 & very pretty) is dying at the Sanitarium. Had a bad night with Neuralgia again. Oh dear! Felt it coming on & sent for medicine to Dr. Neefus
at five - but it didn't stop it - only made my heart beat. Oct. 25 Tues. Pretty rocky today - a very long noon hour. J.G. rather numerous - Mrs.
Jenkins
died. Oct. 26 Wed. Rainy morning. Felt bad and didn't go to office. Awfully discouraged. Tried to cheer up reading "Tribulations of a Princess" but it was hard work. Harry Wilkinson called this afternoon & was interesting and nice and dear-boy Claude stopped tonight. They are keeping house in a manly way, while Char is off. Harry "orders the meals" &c. He likes it. Oct. 27 Thurs. Went to the office, but it was rather hard work. Lots of headache &c. Not very busy, J.W. away.
