Mch. 6. Sun.
Nice dinner - and I cooked some of it. Afterward called on Frank and Lillian
in their nice little home and Frank
fed me taffy he'd been making. Then went over to Chattie's to return "Jane Eyre" and stayed to cheese
Sandwiches with the family - all in the kitchen (including
Hamilton) a la St.
Helena. Home to read.
Mch 7. Mon.
They are having a hard time trying to pull down the ruins of walls left by the
fire and very dangerous. The morning after the pulled down those on
Main St. and the front of the old Marble Block fell into
Schminke's store and smashed plate glass and furniture.
The wh hole that gapes on Main
St. is very big.
Mch 8. Tues.
Cooked tapioca tonight. Zaza
was there but seemed rather sad. Busy at
office.
Mch 9. Wed.J.G. & the "Lady
Mayoress" went to Albany to his father's 60th
wedding anniversary. I went up to MacArthur's tonight and saw Alice's
pretty trousseau. Mary didn't know I was
coming and was out but Nellie &
Alice did the honors!
Mar. 10. Thurs.
The dear Boy got home from New York
after a very nice time with the "Dinkey - dink and minor poet push". He brought
me Zangwell's "Merely Mary Ann" - and was most
entertaining - as always - telling about his trip this evening.
Mar. 11. Fri.J.W.C. & wife went to
Albany this p.m. (all to go to
N.Y. next week). This evening I went to a
