Sept. 20 Tues. A hard shower at noon. I soaked my feet (just coming up from the car) So did the Hartigan girls. We must have been quite a sight running up from "the 1:10" in a cloudburst. I was late going back (waited for another deluge to pass over) Evening at home, as usual. Sept. 21. Wed. Cold today. Tonight Miss Flack had a supper party - the 3 Flack sisters, their mother & sister-in-law - Miss Spencer Miss Mc Affrey, Zaza, and I. Later Gracie Bingham and "Brother Percy" came and we played Sherlock Holmes and other fool games, but had a very good time. The grate fire felt good and the moonlight was so cold, coming home. Sept. 22 Thurs. Very cold. Everybody freezing to death in the building, as our new heating plant isn't ready. Spent half the morning and half the after- noon in the J.G's old East Avenue office - with the gas log lit. Mother and I went to Cro'nest to supper. "Hattie

" (the servant) is back. Chatted with Harry, Char & Claude by the fire afterwards. Was very sleepy. Took a "byke" ride at 5:30. Sept. 23. Fri. A trifle warmer. We had steam on a little at the building (but very "crude" as Emerich wd. say) Laura spent the Evening here. She's been to the seashore and to the mountains (Baylin's & Robinson's) and was full of stories all about dresses, people, &c. We also talked about the lakes, of course & then played Flinch. I beat 3 out of 5, however. Sept. 24 Sat. Cloudy & rain this p.m. Went to the P.O. for my 100 gort
