Cargill house four automobile parties made an unexpected demand for hospitality and the little landlord couldn't promise us dinner till quarter of two. So I took "Rip" and went down to the creek where "brown leaves were floating" and dreamed away half an hour of quiet Sunday. About two we had dinner and everyone seemed hungry - two women and a man autoist at my table talked about Pedro prizes (one bragged about how many she took) and bank officials (The other said her father was director in 4!) Two men on the other side discussed the best road to Retsof. A party at another table (man and wife and three young people) discussed cats which they had seen at Pittsfield and recommended the apple pie. The third table was monopolized by a baby. I was hungry but glad to be out doors again. Rode up to see where Con's friend Commander Hanford lived, and found the flag flying. Then started leisurely back toward home. This time by the road. Found the first
