had begun raining, but I tho't I'd start and as a consequence was soaked when I got home. Threw the chenille covering of my hat into the waste basket & made a new hat later. Spent the p.m. reading &c. 'Phoned Mary & tried to Edith. Finished "The Prodigal Son". It rained a good deal. May. 1. Mon. Cooler. Busy day - we are having our April weather, showers &c. now. May 2. Tues. Uncle Jay is very sick and Mother much worried. We went up to Cro'- nest tonight and had such a nice visit with Claude & Char. Read letters &c. &c. Ethel is not back from Boston yet. May. 3 Wed. Lovely day. Miss Dinehart was over this p.m. Says she's homesick on the hill.

Went to Edith's on my wheel to- night & Mary & Nellie came. Played Flinch & heard about her trip to N.Y. Had a fearful headache all evening. May 4 Thurs. We are going to "incorporate" the business of the C W co. A man is here going over the accounts &c. Lunched with Mary at Harned's today & changed my new hat. Also called on Helen at the "Y". Sewed tonight and Papa read aloud. May 5. Friday Busy and uneventful day. The leaves & things are growing fast at last and the days are beautiful - & the nights too
