10/4/04 "Candida"
but doubt if I succeeded. Afterward I went into deserted "Ontario Park" and the way the waves chased each other in was delightful. Few people were there to enjoy it and I walked the hard sands alone. Got back at 2:15. Mother had eaten and I cooked a cozy meal of steak & onions &c. which I enjoyed. Rested most of the afternoon but later rode Diana to Davis's where I found Chattie "arranged like one of these" in a lovely blue silk shirt waist suit - very becoming. Helen appeared later - with a new one also - and Frank and Lillian were there to tea. They all went to church afterwards. I went as far as the door. Then stopped at Lura's to say "hello". (Had ice cream!) "Laura was there and there was a cozy group around the grate fire - but I didn't linger. Home to read & write. Oct. 3. Mon. Neiner ate breakfast with us this morning. He was married at nine - over at the priest's and Mother went. Later his room was cleaned &c. I lunched went Helen at the "Y" but didn't see much of her as there were ministers &c. and I had errands to do. Home tonight. Oct. 4. Tues. To "Candida" tonight with Chattie and Dr. Daly (the pretty blonde) and her friend. I enjoyed it immensely. I think
