piazza when Geo. Humphrey came & he and Chattie and Hamilton and I went up on Cobbs Hill and dabbled thro' the dewy grass and sweet clover - and past blossomed quince orchards. and into a hollow where animal (?) "spoors

" led to a gravel pit and finally up to the great stand pipe of the new water- company - which over looks the Wide- waters and the city thro' a mist of young leaves - very lovely - very foreign and very unique. We sat some time. Then clambered down the steep bank and walked along my mysterious road in the gloaming - between hill and "widewater". It was very delightful and unreal. We enjoyed it and each other's conversation &c. came home that way (the "back" way) and I had a "good square meal" after nine, at home. Then wrote and "figgered". May 28 Sun. Warmer and a lovely day. Hamilton phoned me Charlotte wd. meet me in Highland Park and I went over on my wheel. He came but no Chattie - we wandered around among the pansies and lilacs and things. Met Mary and her father and mother and saw Frank and Lilian. It was very beautiful there. The Skipper walked back to out Mt. Hope Ave. with me - stopping at Cro'nest
