May 8. Sun. A fine day, indeed. Made beef loaf and cooked spinach. After dinner went up to Amelie's and sat on the front piazza quite a while. John brought us lunch and Donald was entertaining - Cro'nest looked charming in the distance. Later, I rode Diana out the feeder - path to the park and across the golf-links to the river where I sat on the bank a good while - watching the canoes and things - It was charming. I came home the long way - via. Genesee St. and the West High school (just above foundations.) Rested - supped and read, later. May 9. Mon. More housecleaning. Papa & I staid down to lunch. We settled the dining room tonight. May 10 Tues. JWC. went to N.Y. this p.m. I lunched with Helen. She is going to N.Y. with Mrs. Armstrong in a week or so. Went in to Meta's this eve. & chatted with her and Amelie while the husbands, Mr. Behn and "Uncle Fritz" played cards. flinch later. May 11 Wed. It's a relief to have JWC. away, but of course I'm busy, just the same. Was very tired tonight & went to bed early. Papa read aloud some. May 12 Thurs. Fine and warm. Took a short ride up the Avenue this morning - walked down with Edith Jonier tonight met her 'way up Main St. More reading aloud and flinch to- night. Took a bath & read in bed, later.
