7/5/04 "Janice Meredith"
July 4 Mon. It does seem so good to have Mother home. Staid in bed rather late for 4th of July (was so tried getting up early last week) Went to the office, and opened the mail &c. & saw J.W. Phoned to Lura's & found she had been taken sick out at Chattie's, so went out to see about it. Stopped at Hillman's & found they had gone to Niagara Falls, but Mrs. Mosher was there & later Howard and Mme. Migot (their French guest) came. Saw their photographs - which are simply fine. Found Lura & her mother had just left Chat's. She fainted away seven times! 4 of them in bed!! Staid home all p.m. & played flinch and drank lemonade &c. It was quite hot. In the evening we went out to the Cobb's Hill fireworks with Charlotte & Frank & Lillian. They were very good. The Engines came up to a fire just afterward. It rained while we went home in the car. Averell Avenue was beautifully illumin- ated with Japanese lanterns the whole length. July 5 Tues. A busy day, of course. Miss Flack away on her vacation & Gilmore hustling to go. Tonight Trudy , Laura Hutchinson & I went to see Bonesteel & McAllister in Janice Meredith? I enjoyed it better than the Mary Mannering one I saw before, walked home.
