of what was happening over at the hospital (the telephone is a great thing!) and afterward - about 10. Willard Rich came over and told us about his new boy - 6 am at 8:25 He was very much impressed (and very handsome!) and kept staring into vacancy and then saying "Say! It's great!!" & the like I started for home about 11 (in the pouring rain) Had to leave "Diana" and borrow an umbrella. Theo said they were going to the club "just the same", so I went home and got dressed and about 12:30 we started Theo & Meta, Jno. & Amelie, Herma & Frieda and I (all the babies left with "Papa") We took the car and walked up the hill. Found lots of people there and had a very nice lunch. Teall's salad - coffee, cold meats, cream, strawberries &c. &c. The Moores were there and the Likelys' and others I Knew - & Dossenbach's orchestra on the piazza - some dancing - lots of talking - and finally - when it stopped raining a bit - down on the green to watch the driving contest - very pretty - which Dr. Winans - won. Dr. Engert won the cup in the handicap golf tournament (& Meta is to have it.). We came home about five. I put on my wrapper & had a pleasant evening (a little of it next door - chatting over the day.
