Oct. 9. Sun. A cloudy day. Loafed and read magazines &c. (in very nice clean room and with Zenda) About 6 I dressed and walked down to Edith's, tho' it was dark. Some boys were imprisoned in the Immaculate Conception church tower, and howling dismally. A man rushed to the priest's to rescue them and a boy said the sexton "Knew it, but they were Protestants and he wanted to cool them off!" Found Edith, Elsie & the boys at home. Didn't stay so very long. Saw the new wall paper, Henry

's room &c. Rode home. Oct. 10 Mon. Nice enough morning. Rode my wheel. A shower before noon and more later. Home tonight. Papa read aloud to us. Oct. 11 Tues. Still cloudy. Papa and I went up to Cro'nest for an hour tonight. Found Claude & Char & Harry playing dominoes. Walked back. Saw Mrs. Watson's collection of postal cards from her auto - and yacht trip this summer. She was at Cro'nest to lunch. Char sent Mother a rose. Oct. 12 Wed. A rainy day. The worst kind, up from below and down from above. The Perfects's anniversary but no re- union on account of the Rogers' troubles. Played Flinch with Mother tonight after prayer meeting.
