1904
Mar. 17 Thurs. Trudy's birthday. Miss Crichton had the Perfects tonight. The MacArthur's were too used up to come. Mrs. Frank Davis, Mrs. Shepard & Mrs. Bridges supplied. Had a very nice time "St. Patrick" reigned - and especially at supper everything was green and a green serpent the booby prize. It snowed hard when we came home. Mar. 18. Friday. Still morning - Real winter again - Went to Eggleston's to lunch, with Papa. The Cutler's came home. Played "flinch" tonight and finished "Butternut Jones" - which Gracie Bugs Bingham brought me the first of the week. She liked it as well as the Virginian - but I wrote her " I sure didn't, ma'am" or words to that effect - tho' it is mighty good. Mar. 19. Sat. Claude went to Castile. Rather a nasty day. Went into the Dog Show from 4:30 to 6 and got acquainted with the Champion $10000 Bulldog and his owner (a nice Englishman) Dr. Knight took me around (!) Walked up with Miss Laurence. It was raining a little. Tonight Mother and I went to hear Julia Marlowe. (by Harriette's
invitation as she was not able to go, as she planned.) It was swashbucklery and romantic and pretty and much better as a play than as a book. Especially with Julia Marlowe as "Mary Tudor". Mar. 20 Sun. A regular March day - pale sunshine and cold wind. We three went to the Whitcomb
