built a fire in the stove. I put up hooks and put away dishes
&c.&c. When we looked out we saw numerous row- boats headed
down the channel (ap- parently for "Sing-Sing"). As we were
rowing home, Jim Hillis appeared, in- viting
all of us & the Howsons, down there for the
evening (Lucky he did, for we intended
