They got a lot of big blue berries to take home. Almost too late to slip into their good clothes and start. While they were getting ready we did fancy work(!) It had stopped raining when Hamilton rowed away with them - both reluctant to go. Helen, Chat & I strolled thro' the woods to "Charlotte" where we had a nice loaf and talk. Between us we tried to invent a call for St. Helena - and finally hit upon "Napoleo-leo-leo-leon" (I can't show the tune here) which we practiced until it worked very well indeed. And we tried it on the girls - as they passed on the steamer later - while "Papa" dipped the flag in salute. When Hamilton got back we had a nice out-doors supper on the rustic table on the piazza and then sang "Ben Baxter", "The broken-hearted milkman" and "other favorites - and even talked of pedro, but didn't. July 26 Sunday Got up rather late. While they were getting breakfast Hamilton and I went for the milk (to make pancakes) I rowed and he took along a piece of paper on a board to make a map of the islands. It was a gorgeous morning. We met the gray canoe with Mr. McIntosh all clean and beautiful in a white and blue sweater - and a handsome
