10/16/03 Maude Adams "Pretty sister of Jose"
but the supper was good. I sat next to May as usual (!) And Dolly
waited on table. Chat got first prize - a blue & white comfortable and Edith the booby - a pocket-book. I took a flash light picture in which we look as tho' we had been struck by lightning and we had the dinkiest business session it has ever been my pleasure (?) to witness. Was glad to get home. Fri. Oct. 16. The cold I didn't get Saturday, has got me now sure - and has had me a couple of days. Today went up to Cro'nest at 12 o'clock and took some pictures for Claude's "Good Housekeeping" article.
6- Char's room - the crow, &c.&c. It was simply beautiful up there - Had lunch and got back about 2:45. Tonight went with Edith to see Maude Adams in "The Pretty Sister of Jose" - a sweet little play beautifully mounted - sceneried and costumed also beautifully done - all flowers and moon and lantern light - bull fights - senioritas ribbons and love, priests and virgins - revenge and passion and of course an ending to be desired. She is quite as lovely as ever - but no Spaniard. Oct. 17 Sat. A rainy, rainy day. Miss Lady and I both have colds, but are planning a trip tomorrow perhaps.
