(Hillis) came soon after 9:30 and we started off, leaving Mary, Chat & Hamilton on the dock. We had a dandy sail of three hours. Mr. Sing named the big bay opposite Bonaparte "Bragdon Bay", for me. We pailed up the channel, past the (future) hotel and McIntosh's pretty island, and the Leonard islands, behind, and between two, thro' a narrow ten foot "gate" - very beautiful. Then up and down Bragdon bay and finally down to Mr. Sing's camp - two islands (one only a rock) connected by a rustic bridge partly finished. On the rock is a tent, where they entertained us with photos &c. & outside a store, &c. The name is "Swarthmore" but I called it "Sing-Sing" - and so it remained. I had taken one snapshot when it began to rain, so we sailed directly back, instead of around by Marjorie
's island as we had intended. Saw Mary and Hamilton on burnt island, fishing and they came in (Mary in H's tarpaulin) with quite a string - 13 or 14 - It was still raining. We had done a good deal of "luffing" in the rain and dinner tasted pretty good. The sun came out a bit afterward, & while Chat, Helen & I sat on the piazza and wrote, Mary Marjorie
and Hamilton went berrying. (Chat & Marjorie
had gone earlier and got back) (no, yesterday p.m.)
