Dec. 7 Mon. Cooking lesson night - made cranberry jell (easy) and fruit salad (fine!) and salad dressing of course, I thought it was quite a success. Dec. 8. Tues. A sloppy day. Hamilton met me at noon and turned and walked to the office with me. Told me all about island matters and Sing. Went over to the "Y" at five and Helen read me a jolly letter from Mrs. Howson. Then went up to the Hillman's to dinner (by invitation) and helped get it. It was good - Afterward Edith, Harriette
and I played "bridge" and Con read. It is such fun. Con put me on a car. It snowed! Dec. 9. Wed. Lovely sunny day. Met "Al" Sayles this morning. He is giving "readings" about the country. Dicken's Christmas Carol. (Same old "Al.") Shopped at noon. The Skippercalled and spent the evening. He says Sing showed "all my letters" to Jack
and Jack
told him (HCD) what was in them! Glad there wasn't much - The old gossips! I've got Jack
a mouse trap for Christmas and written a "poem" to go with it - Serves him right! Dec. 10 Thurs. Good sleighing. Rode down with Theo. Shopped and cross-stitched, as usual and we read "Rebecca". (good) Dec. 11 Fri. Stayed down today - very busy. A row of politicians waiting on J.G. these days. Dec. 12 Sat. Another "shoppy" day. At five went over to the "Y".
