a little Christmas
shopping - Wrote tonight, & Papa
read aloud, too.

is dying in a catholic hospital in
Syracuse (St. Joseph?) and is in a
terrible state. It quite broke him up to go. I'm afraid. Stopped at
Hospital Donation at Eureka Club, about 5:30.

Nice day. Tonight The Perfects" and the
Bride &
Groom were
invited to Hamilton's
"29th bithday
party" (not his birthday at all, and he's 39 at
least!) We all went (but the Rogers
girls) and had a very nice time.
Frank and Lillian were great fun - quite "spooney". They gave the
Skipper a big new spoon in a
string "to catch muscalonge" and
Helen gave him a steamboat "to take
the place of the Atlantic" (burned) and Chat
a cake of soap "to wash himself ashore" and Lura
a tobacco pouch, Mary
tobacco, Nellie, ash receiver, I,
cigars (as usual, Edith a pen
wiper. Catherine Crichton a big
stick of candy &c. &c. He had
