Sept. 3. Thurs.
Warm, but fine. Mate left this p.m.
after visiting the Jones' & Claude.
Chat
invited me to supper and to go and meet Helen.
Walked 'way out there (most of the way with
Lura). She had just got a telegram
saying Helen wouldn't come till
tomorrow, but of course I staid to supper & Lura
came up afterward - and I spent the evening making a sign of peach
leaves in the sitting room "Welcome Family", with
Napoleon's picture and some maple leaves and some
American and Canadian flags. Frank
walked home with me - in the moonlight - and waxed enthusiastic over
my pictures and ordered a bookful for LilianSept. 4 Fri.
The Bakers moved to Miss
Thomases. This eve. Lura
came over & we went to meet Helen. Met
Frank &
Chat in the station - gazed at all
the trains (rather expecting to see Con & Wife) and when we got to
Charlotte found Helen
had been there 20 minutes! She told great tales of "Tom"
Wilson who came as far as Toronto
with her & the Howson's - and claims I "cut her
out" with "Jack
") (likely story). He was pleased with my name "Truthful
John".
