2/15 "Yankee Consul"
Feb. 15 Mon. Got a new black chenille hat tonight, at McNulty's (with my money I got from "Recreation" for my St. Helena article)
This evening went to the "Yankee Consul" - a cute comic Opera - with Laura & Lura & Claude sat in a box with Hilliards - "Everybody" was there. It was very funny and pretty music too - Mary plays a good deal of it. "Idy" had a pedro party so Mary couldn't go for the 4th time! Walked home with Claude in a regular terror of a blizzard (& my new hat!) Feb. 16 Tues. Still very cold. Made rolls at cooking school -Parker House, & finger & Swedish - also made chocolate - which - was good Zaza got there just in time for the spread! Feb. 17 Wed. Klemmy G. called on J.W.C. today - & he "encouraged" her (!) I walked down with her at noon. She has an offer from the Institute of Science - but hears all sorts of tales about them - Papa read "Scribners" aloud tonight. Feb. 18. Thurs. Warmer at last. I like these early breakfasts - gives me twice to do something before going to the office. Had a touch of neuralgia today! The first in six or eight weeks!! Was very sleepy - & so were we all, I think, for we were all in bed by 9:30.
