wouldn't stay to rabbit, because they expected him home, but said he'd come down with Belle after church (but he don't like rabbits, I understand, at least Hamilton says he hates cheese and toast!). After our "frugal meal" Helen, Hamilton and I rowed up to the hotel to "church" in the little boat. Saw "O Robert" paddling Miss Vivian about in the offing and Jack
too, in his canoe. Promenaded the piazzas. Looked for the "Jones" and talked to Miss Oldfield, and finally they rang the Bell for church, and the McLean crowd came (brilliant in red, and no hats) and Mr. Sing wandered about, but wasn't spoken to by us and the people from McIntosh's came, even old Mrs. M.
and I helped her out of the boat and went to church with Miss Isabel
, sitting close beside her and singing hard - and listening most absorbedly to Mr. Hartley - the same Mr. Hartley who was at Stony Lake and knew Ned, and whom Mr. Dymond says now
