and her husband. It was quite an entertaining experience and
Mr. Cavil is so civil too. He
has bought an island between Howson's and
Mandalay and calls it "Resthouse"!
Started for Toronto about 11, but the two hours had
not been long enough to get the trunks from the dock, so mine was
left behind! It means another day. We each had a sandwich and
something to drink at Allandale and between there
and Toronto my "Annie Russell" girl
got on - almost her image, but younger, and very charming. She had nine
other girls with her, some her friends and the others evidently in
quite another class. I could not make them out, but she charmed me.
Mrs. Baker
(who lives in Brantford, near the
Weirs, and was very nice) left me at
Toronto. Suburb (Glendale?) - no
"Parkdale" - and in the station of course I encountered
somebody, as usual, and this time it was Howard Bradstreet. Transferred to the steamer dock
in the bus. Saw about forwarding my trunk and just dashed up Yonge St. for Kate's picture postals and to
Eaton's for an inkwell for Mother -
and got back 5 minutes before the "Kingston" sailed. The train was late
and I had only a scant hour for everything.
