fires, I suppose - and the old mills & the river so picturesque
- & all the trees in Spring green - "almost vulgarly green" as
Claude says. I did wish I had my
kodak.
May 3 Sun.
Felt rather almost ill today. I clear Spring day - Staid home up
in my newly-cleared and arranged room. Did some of the "arranging"
today & read. Edith came up
this afternoon - all in her "glad rags" - It began raining while
she was here. Later came my
dearest boy - with a nice little note from Char.
We had "tiffin" off and on all the
evening. Zenda & Zo were darlings.
May 4 Mon.
Went to the "Perfects" at Edith J's tonight. Was so fortunate as
to go down in the car with "Chattie".
We were the first ones there and had quite a little visit before the rest
came - in a body - all but Lura, who
was late. Had quite a gay evening - At supper - around the big table
- there was a bit of persiflage in which "Oswald" figured.
Edith and Edith
undoubtedly suspect me - but I think "I dissembled well." Edith S.
has a sparkling eye however.
How she would like to have me confess!
