bed early (He'd been playing hockey on the ice all the morning!) And
we had some sleepy bridge.
Nov. 29. Sun.
Another fine day. I am very fortunate.
Nan has her troubles (her twin sisters
mostly) and stayed at home to write letters. Alice, Gurdon & I went to the
Congregational Church (past the old burned High School &
the new one) It's a semi-old church, & the pews seem Ancient - A
genial minister named Bushnell preached) about Benevolences. We walked
home
Pleasant St. way (Gurdon
staying to Sunday School) and at dinner (Dr. Blinker "warmed
up) were entertained by man with a tame turkey and a game cat - in a
neighboring yard. Looked at all Alice's old photo-books this p.m. They are most
entertaining. Then we had a long talk in the twilight & Alice told me things about Edith's wedding and friends & the
Bigler's &c.&c. and finally I went up and
packed and then we had supper (Nan's
famous potato salad) and Nan went
to my train with me. We took the 10 min. of 7 big blue car into town
- & then the Elevated, and so to the station, where my suit case
was checked again and
11/28/03
