drove to the train with me - behind "Sally", who is a beauty. I
dashed away from their smiling faces at 11:16 and got to
Albany about one - Had my shoes shined in the
new station. Bought some film for Alice
and sent it to her, and went up to the
Ten Eyck
where I had a very nice luncheon - chicken croquettes and
a pot of good coffee, but I didn't care for their ice cream. Walked back
around the Capitol, stopping at an antique furniture
shop, and finally got back to the station with only about
three-quarters of an hour to wait for the 4 o'clock train, only it
was a little late - Finished "The Firm of Grindlestone",
going home. Had several seat mates - the last a Salvation Army
woman. Was about half an hour late (arising about ten) and dear
Mother was there to meet me and go home with me.
Papa was waiting and
Claude & Zendavesta and when
Zozie came up from the cellar he burst into rupturous purring
- as if he was very glad to see me. He also "squoze" my hand. Supper
and bed (rather late.)
