Went to supper at Cro'nest - Mal Wilkinson was there and we ate in the outdoor dining room - It was beautiful - first sunset and then candles. Talked and showed them my pictures, afterwards. Aug 16 Sun. I am making up for lost sleep at St Helena by sleeping like a log here - Zenda called me at 8:30 and I got up and let her and Zozie out. Ate some grapenuts and then went to bed again till eleven. When I got a sumptuous breakfast for myself. Made some prints and read some entertaining "Smith College Stories" which Chat lent me (Kath's) by Miss Darkam. Then Edith came and I rode up to Chat's with her. Chat was quite alone and read us a letter from Helen, and we staid to lunch, which we helped get. Afterwards I came home & wrote &c. Aug 17 Mon. Another lovely day. My dear family came home at night - and we had a late supper. John & Mae have gone South again. Aug 18. Tues. Lunched at Sibley's again - (by my lovelets) At 5, rode out East Avenue and called on Mrs. Elwood, who seemed pleased & told me about Marguerite (at the Hoyts, in Maine) &c.
