Still another lovely day. Claude didn't
feel well and went home about 11. I went up there directly after
supper - and found him very ill - Temperature 103 2/5. Dr.
Biegler
just leaving - and sent a trained nurse -
Miss Hartley - whom I waited for - I helped
Char all I could - Dr.
and all of us fear
typhoid fever - but no one says it. It is
awful.
Aug 20 Thurs.
Went up to Cro'nest right after
breakfast.
C. had a bad night but his temperature
down to 100 2/5. When the Dr.
came, later, he was much encouraged, and said we needn't
send for Con, after all - (Jim
had telegraphed him for me, last night).
Aug 21 Fri.
Dear Claude still better - but only
dozed a bit last night - I went and staid with him after four, this
p.m, while
Char and Miss Hartley
got some sleep. He slept about 40 minutes - but has begun to joke -
about "Gruelty to Architects," (when we feed him gruel)
&c. Weather still lovely.
