I'll begin with last Friday, Decoration
Day when Claude went to
Syracuse
expecting Charlotte home from
Atlantic City, and
Con went up the river to come down in
his new canoe, the "After Me" and the "Perfects" started at 1:30
(while everyone was waiting for the
circus parade) and went down to the Greenleaf Farm
(walking from Charlotte) where the
Davises are till June 24th - to
celebrate our final meeting. It was
really a cold day. We went thro' the rambling, funny old house and
then sat in the big Southwest parlor, by the open wood fire and played
Pedro till five o'clock. It had been a dark day, but got a
little brighter and I tried some pictures. The girls went down to
the shore while I figured the scores, and when I got down there I
found a fire going and everything lovely. The sun really shone when
we ate our fish supper - with speeches and prizes. Mabel,
as President, presented
Fiske's "American Revolution" to Mary
as first prize, and
"Gallagher" and "Audrey" to Lura as 2nd.
Sun. June 1.
