was all settled. Papa was there a little while and during the evening Mary and Emma Mac and late John and Amelie Frey and Mrs. Bemish came and gushed and gushed over it. The lovely Boston Fern and pot of Ferns that I ordered for Gertrude's present were there - and looked very beautiful, I tho't. Nov 2. Sun. A beauteous day. I was very tired, but got up in time to pack before breakfast and Papa went over to the 10:05 train with me. We got to Syracuse at 12 - reading the new Scribner on the way. Took the car up to James Street - and dear Claude came out to meet me - and Charlotte on the doorstep. Found all the Wilkinsons and Miss Peck inside arranging the lovely presents - a table of silver - a table of gold lined things - silver & gold banded glasses (from Fred) and a table of a beautiful blue Italian teaset (from Miss Peck and the other Smith college girls) and another table for a japanese salad set - another for brass - (desk fittings &c.) and two others for odds and ends of things - copper - Grueby - Rookwood. The Tiffany lamp and so on - also books. 3 traveling clocks - two huge brass jardiniers from Mac Gonigle
and Arts and Crafts plates from Harry. etc. etc. I spent an hour or so in
