broke into his glad laugh and drifted along. Fine Northern lights with us awhile, in his canoe, We listened to his deer hounds baying at a hare over a mile away, and he told tales after his usual style (which I drink in but pretend not believe) and claimed he had been at St. Helena full 20 minutes! and so far back!! Finally he left us and Hamilton took the oars, after putting down the brown sail, and I took the tiller and we rowed jauntily on around "Co" point, past Duazyupeeze and Wahbeek's nose and gently on to a nice shoal beyond. As H. was pushing off, Mr. Sing hailed us from a row- boat (returning from a broken down tug) and H. sat down and began to row again while we still talked, but I noticed we didn't progress and H. had to work at the shoal again - getting off just as Mr. Sing was rowing to our rescue ("tho" we were so independent!). Got home to bread and milk and a merry chat, about 11 or so. Then bed. July 28 Tues. A rainy day - Late rising too. We sleep as long as we like in this happy place. After the house was "slicked up" we all took the "Bon Amie" and polished the windows and looking glasses - which did look beautiful! We had Hamilton's pike nicely baked for dinner.
