The dinner was very good (tho' we were one custard shy) and I fixed all the guests opposite the view &c. The Moshers went directly afterward. Then Kate, Helen & Hamilton went for the milk and Chattie and I hustled the dishes up and then she and I went up that way. Met them just below the range light and all went over behind "Clare" (just burnt!) and around past "Mandalay" and Howson's (when the others stopped with the milk, and down to the high island Chat calls "Wonderland" and back up Bonaparte Bay (where they called us to came to the bonfire) and around Wahbeck, and when we got into the narrows the fire was lit and a breeze had come up and was blowing the sparks all toward the house and trees, so that we were much frightened and Hamilton carried up pails of water and put it out. Later, the Howson's came over and they and Mrs. Davis & all of us had a visit inside. Mrs. H.

is awfully nice and funny - talks incessently and appeals to "Arthur" (a "Mr. Mildman") and is smart
