which Helen has ordered thro' Mr. McI. and which he "stakes his reputation" will be here Friday. July 30 Thurs. Up early (for us) Mr. Davis comes out of his bedroom each morning with his little linen cap cocked up - makes a low, sweeping bow. "Good morning ladies!" and takes it off to sit down to break fast with such an air! Surveyor Sing ap- peared early, saying their famous "bridge" was done and asking me to come down and take a picture of it. We made him go over to Howson's new cottage with us first, where I put "Welcome" in cedar in large letters between the front windows - They all helped. Then we went on (Ham. had Chattie in DPP, and Helen & I were with Mr. Sing) We explored the high islands, between the berry islands, while Chattie talks of buying and calling "Wonderland" Then we went on to "Sing-Sing", where Mr. Hillis was waiting for us, and after exploring both islands and making elaborate preparations, we took the picture of the bridge! (which is really very unique with a gate that opens) It was quite roughish coming back (Mr. Sing rowed us) and we arranged to have a picnic supper tonight after a sail in Sturgeon Bay or out to the lake rocks, for the sunset, in the afternoon. After dinner I had a nap in the
