Sept. 6 Sat. A cold clear morning - very cold - when we started, after an early breakfast, Nan, Alice and I, with Clarence

and the new carriage, at 7:07 a.m. We drove up the Mt. Airy road, as we did Wednesday, and through Palenville another way up the north side of the creek into Kaaterskill Clove - a most lovely road - some clouds came over but later they were only beautiful shadow on the mountains and the ride up was magnificent, crossing and re-crossing the stream, and gradually getting higher and higher, till the last long hill Clarence
got out and Alice drove and Nan and I walked most of the way. We reached the top before ten and had driven 'way over thro' the park to the Squirrel Inn by the time 3 hours were up. There we got out and sent Clarence
on down to the lovely stable and then explored the delightful Inn, with its big window seats, its many paned windows, its fire places and nooks and corners and rustic shelves and fixings and the alluring dining room window! We also met one of the Quaker ladies who keeps it. Afterward we explored the Park - Saw
