It was lovely there and a perfect moonlight night and they made
me stay all night. After dinner
John took us down to the cottage
for ice cream (Billy
was in town) and the walk down and back in the bright
moonlight was delightful. We found "Billy
" arrived and sat out until all hours talking. In the
morning it was still very warm (even apparently so at the
Lake) and I came down with
"Billy
" in the 8:15 car. Have been down once or twice before -
just for a call - and one Sunday for the day. John
still talking of going South and
Mae feeling badly about it.
Lura and
Mrs. Baker are having such troubles
- the dears - with their house and their affairs. It is
sohard to get money to pay interest &c. and
they are almost to the last extremity and can't
sell it - If I only knew how to keep dear
Lura. I am so sorry for them both.
