Pointe with them, which Hamilton, who took along the boat to row back. I was sorry after- ward, for they had - some of them - a gorgeous sail out into the open Bay - with big waves and things. Chat had meanwhile discovered another "mountain" on the island (besides "Mt. Marie") and took me up on to it and we named it "The Pinnacle". It has a water view and a woods view and is beautiful. We had a nice talk. There is a mink on the island, which we call "Marshall Ney" and his wife "Pauline" ("Nay. Nay. Pauline"!) and a squirrel "Groutchy", and the twin pine trees at the south of the piazza "Zoroaster and Zendavesta" and the one over Chattie's room, "Charlotte's delight". We had a nice welsh rabbit supper on the piazza, and then (rather late) Chat and I rowed for the milk by Hamilton's chart. I rowed up while she steered by it, then I steered back from memory (the channel is rather com- plicated at first). It was an ideal evening a lovely japanese sky - all full of after- glow - the sort one always remembers - we went up by the range light and sat upon a rock and watched it fade, as late as we dared, for the milk wasn't there.
