Claude went to Syracuse on the Empire and I started for Pulaski on the R.W & O. at 10 a.m. with the postmen who paraded in Oswego. We got a hot box in Sodus & were late, but Oswego was a "blaze of glory" as we went thro'. I saw Mr. Harrington, the stage driver, at Pulaski, but he had to wait for the 4 o'clock train, so I took a walk thro' the village and tried to call on Belle

, but she wasn't home. Rode out to Bethel Church by Mr. Hemans Mr. Harrington's father-in-law, who entertained me. His father used to be my grandfather's blacksmith &c. &c. At Bethel I got off and started to
