Home all day today and read 4 books (at once) "Ivanhoe"
"Cruise of the Cachelot"- "Told in the Hills" and
"Jane Eyre"! It rained and was rather dreary outside.
Still feeling rocky.
Feb. 22. Mon.Washington's Birthday, too. Claude invited me to go to Buffalo
with him. Got down to the office early and did a lot before we started (at
10:15) The sun came out - tho' it was rather a cloudy stormy looking
morning. Lots of snow ice along the way - a Marchy
looking prospect and we actually arrived in
Buffalo in a blizzard of snow (It always blows there!) Went right up to the Hotel
Iroquois and had a most delicious luncheon - A pleasant cafe
filled with more or less interesting people - especialy two old men
- a tall one with a pink shirt and a short one very near- sighted -
but otherwise they looked like twins. It snowed all thro' dinner - but
stopped after- ward - We went over to the Prudential Bldg.
and admired
Sullivan's work, and then strolled on up
Franklin Street - to Lucius
Hitchcock's studio. a back attic - thro' Doctor's offices
and up old fashioned painted back stairs to this funny sky-lighted
attic - Crammed full of old colonial properties - from spinnets to
top-boots - with a pretty model posing in an old fashioned
changeable silk - and a most charming host - the Artist himself. He was
