a point of view- the house being at the top of the hill. I never saw
the woods around look lovlier. I made a stock later, and after
supper went up to
Mae Stull's & had a nice visit.
Jun. 21. Sat.
Have had a good time since last I wrote- in spite of smallpox
scare-vaccination and cold weather. Have been canoeing with
Con and up the river with Arno
and Theo in A's canoe,
to the Oak Hill Country
Club, where we drank and rested on the big west piazza and
(14)
came back on a car. Last Saturday
I went down to Davis's (at
Greenleaf's) with Lura
& Mrs. Baker & staid to tea. It was cold and
we sat by the fire and played pedro. The girls walked to the
car with me later. Edith and the
Wray's were
(15)
in it. The next day - Sunday - was such a contrast - very warm.
Papa invited me to the
lake again and I wore my gingham dress. We had
a very nice time. Sat outdoors and ate ice cream (delicious!) and talked
about their renting their house furnished (but they didn't) and
Lura & Mrs. B.
came home with us before the "rush" of the
evening.
Helen and I had a little "heart to
heart" talk about her mother.
