"Nan" and I went for a stroll
to town just after supper, and met Gurdon
and Edith
going to a church sociable. Most of the evening was spent loafing
and listening to Edith
and Miss Moore singing everything

Sept 2 Tues.
A cloudy morning but the sun came out warm and after a walk about
and a little loaf after breakfast we started out in the 3-seater at
ten o'clock - GurdonBarbara, Anna,
Alice & I,
and did the family marketing- spoke to a young bride - just back
from her wedding tour and then took quite a long drive - till half-
past twelve or so. The wind changed and it got cool and clear and
delightful and the roads are beautiful. After lunch we all dressed
up in white and spent the entire afternoon on the piazza. The
river was beautiful - the breeze was fine and there was a great deal
of guessing character - playing bridge - and dressing and undressing
